Muslims and drug abuse

Muslims and drug abuse shouldn't be linked but in the American indigenous community where I come from it is quite normal, Many will beg to differ, pretend it doesn't exist or simply make silly comments like I am trying to "bring down a community or I focus on the negative" Yes I do focus on negative so we can bring it to light, make it known and show the people there's a real epidemic going on here. Do we all believe that all Muslims are innocent? Thru out history even during the time of the Prophet salalahu alaihee wa salam there was Muslims who did negative things, drink alcohol, smoke even abuse women, so what makes us so special? Because Imam's say they are a saved sect? Because your beard is long? Because your garment is black? Reality is no one is saved from the torment of the fire but the ones promised, that's it.



O You who believe! Indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allaah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." [Quran: 5:90]

Jaabir narrated that the Messenger of Allaah said: "Whatever intoxicates in a greater quantity is also unlawful in a small quantity." [At-Tirmithi, Abu Daawood & Ibn Maajah]

Remember that intoxicants are not just beer, wine, whiskey or any other alcohol, it is anything that alters the mind, weed, cocaine, heroin, molly etc...Now I have heard many times over that "weed" is ok, Weed never harmed or killed anyone, its not addictive, yes this may be true, but guess what, it alters the mind and according to the ayah above its haram.

Imaam Al-Maawardi stressed that by consuming plants, which cause over-excitement (intoxication), the Hadd (legal punishment) will become necessary, which, in this case, is eighty lashes.

Imaam Qiraafi states that all the scholars of his period agreed that its consumption is Haraam.

However, there is a difference of opinion as to what punishment becomes incumbent due to consuming drugs; either Hadd, because it intoxicates or Ta'zeer (reprimand) because it corrupts the mind.

According to three prominent Imaams (Shaafi'i, Maalik and Ahmad), consuming anything intoxicating, however small the amount, will bring the legal punishment of eighty lashes to the person.  However, according to the Hanafi school, if an intoxicating amount has been taken, then, according to Imam Muhammad, Hadd will be necessary. According to Imaam Abu Haneefah and Imaam Abu Yusuf, he will be reprimanded severely, but the Hadd will not be imposed. 

Ta'zeer is such a punishment that holds no specific amount and is for the discretion of the Judge. We should note that according to some scholars, in certain cases, Ta'zeer could prove to be more severe than the Hadd itself, such as when the person persistently commits the crime.

 

Many many many people who call themselves salafees think weed is ok, The Salafiyoon hold Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyah in high regard, here is what the Great Sheikh says about all forms of intoxicants

Imaam Ibn Taymiyyah has further stated: "Whosoever regards it lawful has become a Kaafir.

 

 

 

Whether you accept Ibn Taymiyah's ruling or not, you cannot deny Allah's ayat on the subject. When will the charade end? When will we stop pretending to be a Saudi like society in Phila and elsewhere and be real with ourselves, since no punishment can be administered here in the usa according the shariah, the Imams ignore it, what can they do? Nothing. People have used and abused Islam in so many ways, Muslim drug dealers, Muslim alcohol shop owners, Muslim drunks, Muslim potheads, Muslim pill poppers and Muslim liars.

When will it end, I don't see a remedy, I only see it getting worse, but I will pray that anyone who does it either stops or gets arrested so they can see the result of what their hands have done.
